Great News – The Recession is Over!

Or so I am left to guess anyway. How else could you explain the difficulty the mister and I have had in locating a wedding venue?

In the first few weeks after our engagement we began our wedding planning by thinking about where we might want to host this most exciting of events. While I envisioned an intimate ceremony with just the two of us in some exotic locale – Bora Bora? Costa Rica? The Swiss Alps? – I soon realized that my future husband had a vision for our big day… a very clear vision… and that vision involved lots of friends and family present in a venue close to home.

Not wanting to crush his hopes for the rock and roll wedding he hoped for we began looking for funky, fun venues appropriate for a rockin’ soiree with those we love. We tried the divide and conquer technique for contacting our top choices for more info. And so we did… and then again… and again… sometimes we left as many as 10 messages with some venues (trying e-mail, phone calls, smoke signals) without a single response. Apparently these places didn’t need our money. And then it hit me – we’re saved! The economy is booming again! Money is growing on trees.

Thank goodness. I was beginning to get cautious about spending too much on a wedding with so many other expenses in my life. But, I really had no reason to fear. The recession is over… and I guess we’ll just have to beg someone to please take our money and let us get married wherever they can find the room.
